Sourdough Rise — Privacy Policy

Sourdough Rise is a starter log with optional AI assessments. It has no accounts, no ads, and no third-party analytics or tracking. We never sell your data. This page describes the small amount of data the app does handle, and what happens to it.

What stays on your device

Your starters, feed history, peak marks, ambient temperatures, reminders, and private notes are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded. Deleting the app deletes them.

What our server receives

• An anonymous device identifier. On first use of an online feature, the app registers a random identifier (and your platform, iOS or Android) with our server. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any account — none of those are ever collected. It exists to enforce free-tier limits and rate limits.
• Photos you submit for AI assessment. When you request a starter check-up or a Judges' Corner reading, the photos you chose are uploaded to our server so the assessment can run, along with the assessment result.
• Subscription status. If you subscribe, Apple or Google processes the payment and gives us a transaction identifier so we can verify your subscription is active. We never receive your payment details, name, or email.

AI processing

Assessments are produced by sending your photos to our AI provider, Anthropic, under its commercial API terms, which do not permit using your photos to train its models. Every assessment in the app is labeled as AI.

Retention

• Photos from assessments you do not share are deleted from our server within 7 days.
• If you share a bake or post it to the feed, its card and photos are kept so the share works — for up to 365 days, or until you revoke it, whichever comes first. Revoking a share removes public access to the page and its photos.

Sharing and the feed

Sharing is always your explicit choice. A share link makes that one card and its photos visible to anyone who has the link; posting to the in-app feed makes the card visible to other users of the app. Reactions and reports you submit on feed cards are stored against your anonymous device identifier. You can revoke a share or remove a feed post at any time from the app.

Security

All traffic between the app and our server uses HTTPS, and requests from the app are verified with platform integrity checks (Apple App Attest).

Children

Sourdough Rise is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices

You can use the entire core app — logging, reminders, history — without anything ever leaving your device. You can revoke any share from the app. To request deletion of any data our server holds for your device, contact us at the address below.
